The Jaguar XK dates back to 1997, however, its style is based on the XK-E sports car which was introduced in the 1960s. It also shares certain aspects of the XJS model in terms of suspension and the rear-drive platform. The series originates from the British car manufacturer Jaguar.
Jaguar XK cars were first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1996. The initial generation, known as the XK8, could be purchased as a convertible or a couple. It was introduced as a replacement for the Jaguar XJS which had been in production since 1975. This was the first eight-cylinder car produced by the British company after the creation of the Jaguar AJ-V8 engine, and had 290-horsepower V8 making it able to keep up with its luxury couple opponents.
In 1998 new features were added including a security system to prevent hot wiring, and steering wheel controls. In 2001 a Silverstone couple and convertible were introduced which had larger wheels and brakes. Later, in 2003 the 4.0 litre V8 was replaced by a 4.2 litre V8. The first generation lasted until 2006, but it is still possible to buy a secondhand Jaguar XK.
In 2005 the second generation XK was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show and sales started in the following year. Jaguar XK are available as either a two-door convertible or a two-door couple and have been made with an aluminium monocoque body shell. The Jaguar XK comes with 5.0 litre V8 and 385 horsepower. All used Jaguar XK models have a stylish leather interior, as well as heated seats.
The Jaguar XK model has a number of key features which have led its continued popularity among motorists. The model is famous for a smooth ride, fast acceleration, and a high quality build. As well as a stunning exterior finish, the interior materials used are excellent in style and durability.
