The Suzuki Vitara was first released in 1988, and designed first and foremost as a stylish, fashionable new 4x4, without compromising on performance. The Vitara is a great ride on the road, and with good handling it will perform well as long as it's not pushed too hard. Off road, the car comes into its own and does the job superbly. While most Vitaras are not bought with off road performance in mind, the option is there and works to improve the practicality of the vehicle, especially in poor weather conditions. Suzuki Vitara sales were good, which provided a great boost for Suzuki as a result.
The majority of secondhand Suzuki Vitaras on the market have the 1.6 litre engines, both standard and 16 valve. The first car released was a three door hard top version with the 1.6 litre engine, although later that year a soft top version of the same model was released. In 1989 the SE option came onto the market, with alloy wheels, central locking and electric windows. It wasn't until 1991 that the third and final shape became available: the five door, which had a 16 valve version of the 1.6 litre engine.
Suzuki Vitara cars did a lot of good work for the Suzuki name, and Suzuki developed as a result of its success. This is a reliable vehicle when looked after properly and repair costs aren't unreasonable. A huge part of this car is its style: it looks great, is attractive and is definitely something different to be seen in on the road. As with all 4x4s the visibility is excellent, aiding safety, and the Suzuki Vitara could be the choice for you if you are looking for a car with great practicality and style combined.
